Get used to hearing this from me:  You need a vacuum tube stereo. If you like listening to music like i do, get a tube amp. I don't have a record player. They are expensive and frustrating. But, I love listening to music. So, I decided to get a tube stereo. I have never been a major audiophile but this thing promised to deliver a big sound on very little cost and electricity. Couldn't be better for me right now.  Living off batteries, soooo......it has a blue tooth connection or an RCA jack input. Got the iPod hooked into the RCA. Sounds like I am in the studio while they are recording. It's a good thing I am going to be having different neighbors every so often, because I am going to play this thing loud. This unit is from monoprice and cost me 150 bucks.
